 Senior Project Manager (Full-time, Brighton)

The role will be managing some of our larger projects, and at the same time coaching and supporting our team of project managers on the finer points of our trade. You’ll also work closely with one of our Projects Directors to ensure the smooth running of a series of accounts and ensuring they remain commercially successful.

We need you to identify risks, and gently guide our clients through the minefield of an elearning project.

Specifically, you will:

  • Oversee a select portfolio of projects, assuring they are resourced adequately and perform to margin and quality targets
  • Ensure projects follow Kineo processes from handover through to delivery, and adhere to Kineo’s ISO quality management system
  • Manage high risk / high profile projects within the Kineo’s portfolio, as agreed with their Line Manager, including planning, resourcing, scheduling, monitoring progress, quality and margins
  • Monitor the financial performance of a select portfolio, identifying risks and mitigations
  • Act as the first point of contact for the client on an agreed set of projects on a day-to-day basis
  • Assist in ensuring projects are resourced appropriately and efficiently
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency on projects to increase profitability
  • Take a risk-based approach to project portfolio, identifying at risk projects and taking steps to manage risk, working with Projects Directors / Kineo Director
  • Identify need for change control process and supports project owner to carry out effectively
  • Manage Project Managers and PSOs as required
  • Coach and train relevant roles in project management when required


Skills Range:

  • At least 3 year’s experience as a project manager in e-learning or similar field
  • Leadership skills: proven ability to organise, manage the work of others
  • Client handling skills: proven ability to lead on client relationships
  • Management and organisation: self managing and capable of managing a large portfolio of projects profitably, and organising resources accordingly
  • Commitment: committed to taking a leadership role in Kineo and extending their responsibilities accordingly
  • Target-driven: Will manage to agreed targets for utilisation, margin, and quality ( targets to be set with Projects Directors)

Salary is dependant on experience.

Project Manager (Full-time, Sheffield)

At Kineo Sheffield we are seeking a Project Manager to join a dynamic team delivering a variety of e-learning projects to delight our clients.

If you are familiar with the e-learning project lifecycle, organised and possess leadership and client facing skills then you may be just the person we are looking for. Alternatively you may have experience in related industries e.g. new media, publishing and be interested in moving into e-learning.

The role
Our Project Managers set their projects up for success, taking a brief from the Sales team and working with the creative and technical experts to plan the tasks from start to finish. They use in-house planning and financial tools to share resources and monitor budgets.  The role is specifically for the Sheffield team and reports to the Project Director.

Essential and desirable skills
At Kineo we pride ourselves on our Customer Service so excellent client facing skills are essential for the Project Manager role.

We don’t insist on formal PM training or many years of experience in Project Management; our ideal candidate is someone who has worked in e-learning or a related industry and who understands the tasks, the risks and the overall process. A positive attitude and an ability to handle multiple activities are key.  

If you have experience as a PM and are able to use Project Minder and Excel effectively, then those attributes are a definite benefit. If not, then training will be provided. Experience of projects using Flash, html and other classic e-learning/web development tools will be useful, as will an awareness of rapid development tools such as Articulate, Captivate and Lectora.

Location: Kineo Sheffield is based in the Electric Works near the station in Sheffield. The role is office based but you will be expected to go to client meetings which could be anywhere in the UK or occasionally abroad.

Salary: In the range £23,000 to £30,000 depending on experience.

Sales & Marketing Support (Full-time, Brighton)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised person to join our sales and marketing team at Kineo's Head Office in Brighton.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our expanding global business.  The role is to provide a full range of administrative support to the UK sales and marketing teams. We are looking for someone who thrives on working in a fast paced and busy environment, exploring and using new technologies.

Job purpose:  To provide the full range of administrative support to Kineo’s sales and marketing activities, reporting to the Sales & Marketing Support Manager

Characteristics: To be successful in the role, you will need to be highly organised, self-motivated and posess a can-do attitude. You will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced company, on multiple projects, often with tight deadlines, and be confident, with ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative.  It is also desirable if you have an interest or experience of the e-learning industry or a similar sales administration role and/or in marketing and social media.

HR Manager (Part-time, Brighton)

Boy have we grown!  Five years ago, we were a small team of four and now we are over 100 staff based across our sites in Brighton, London and Sheffield.  Keeping track of everyone and serving their individual needs is becoming more complicated, so we feel it only right to find an HR professional to support us.  Our people are our most prized asset, and so it’s only appropriate we find someone who truly cares about the team.

What do we want you to do?

The role is all about looking after our people.  We need you to support our line managers in answering queries they may have, assisting with absences, staff contracts and providing a direct confidential support service to our staff.  You’ll need to be adept at handling different tasks ranging from maintaining our HR handbook through to handling more complex issues such as maternity leave and disciplinary meetings.

E-Learning and LMS Solutions Consultant

We're currently recruiting for a new role as Solutions Consultant to join our sales team. You could be based anywhere in the UK, though proximity to a Kineo office (London, Brighton or Sheffield) is preferable.

Your main role will be to lead on e-learning, content and LMS sales opportunities including discussing requirements with clients and putting together appropriate solutions, and will see you reporting to the Head of Solutions. Responsibilities will include prospecting and account managing Kineo clients, understanding their needs and developing solutions in collaboration with our teams, taking a sales target and being rewarded for sales of Kineo’s solutions.

You will ideally have sales and/or production experience in e-learning and/or LMS. You must be a highly enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic individual, comfortable working in a fast-paced growth company, on multiple activities and projects with tight deadlines, with strong communication skills. You will be capable of explaining the rationale of decisions to clients, communicating progress and updates to clients and to colleagues, and communicating design aspects and requirements to graphic designers and technical team members.

Other desirable characteristics are experience in Moodle and open source software, and experience with e-learning design.

PHP Developers - Junior/Front End & Middleweight-Senior

Our LMS team is in demand and to keep up we’re looking for new web developers to join us at all levels.

We're looking for people who can produce good, clean, cross browser HTML, CSS, Javascript and server side code with knowledge of some of the technologies that we use that they wish to build on.  The team you will join is very supportive and you will be given the help you need to improve your skills within our tool-set.

For the Junior/Front-End role (Salary £23-28k)

Day to day you’ll be building HTML templates from wire-frames, implementing themes within Moodle and Totara to a style guide or piece of art direction, building plugins, enhancements and bug fixes, working with our project managers and solution architects to ensure clients get what they ask for.

You will have experience of: You will gain experience of:

  • Cross browser compatibility
  • Working with themes in a CMS/LMS (e.g. Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, Moodle) or templating language (e.g. ASP, JSP, Django)

You will already need experience of the the full junior-level skill-set for this position.

LMS Implementation Consultant

We are looking for an LMS Implementation Consultant to join our team in Brighton

You’ll be working directly with clients to guide them through the implementation of our LMS. Typical tasks involve showing and explaining features to clients (via webinar or face to face), gathering specific requirements, configuring the LMS accordingly, uploading content and working with the Art Directors in our team to skin the LMS in accordance with the client’s brand and visual identity.

You will be given full training and you’ll learn all about Totara and the implementation process. As part of this, you will work with our experienced Project Managers, Art Directors and Developers and quickly progress to taking on a lead role on projects.

You’ll be working in a fast paced environment, where you’ll need to think on your feet and use your initiative. Senior Software Tester (Brighton)

We are looking for a Senior Software Tester to join our team in Brighton. You’ll be leading the testing of customised instances of Moodle and Totara to ensure releases to our clients are fit for purpose and bug free.

More specifically you’ll be responsible for creating test scripts and test data, carrying out both functional and cross-browser/platform testing and writing user documentation. We are also looking for someone who can make a positive contribution to the ongoing development of our testing processes and tools.

You will ideally have at least three years' experience of web application software testing in a commercial environment.

The role also requires:

  • Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks under pressure
  • The ability to be proactive and work under your own initiative
  • The abiltiy to motivate and lead a team
  • A general understanding of web technologies and QA related issues
